Meet the Doctor

Dr. Diego Velarde is a board certified general surgeon and fellowship trained minimally invasive (laparoscopic) and bariatric surgeon who is dedicated to helping people transform and regain control of their lives through weigh loss and improved health.

Dr. Velarde earned his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and completed his internship and general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida, one of the busiest and most respected medical centers in the southeast.

He then went on to complete a one year minimally invasive and bariatric surgery fellowship at Mercy Hospital in Miami, Florida with internationally renowned Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Moises Jacobs and Colo-Rectal Surgeon Dr.Gustavo Placencia.

Dr. Velarde is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has performed hundreds of bariatric procedures utilizing the most cutting edge technology available in order to deliver the best care possible to his patients. He is trained to use the Da Vinci Robot, and has pioneered its use for surgical procedures in Brevard County. Dr. Velarde is fluent in both English and Spanish languages.
